Dorothy V. Fitzgerald, 82, of West Concord, died Friday, Jan. 29, 2021 at Benedictine Living Community in Owatonna surrounded by her family.
She was born Aug. 13, 1938 in Vale, Oregon the daughter of Merrill and Lydia (Morris) Pettis. Dorothy lived throughout the United States with her family until settling in West Concord. She graduated from West Concord High School in 1957.

Boyd Demmer, 94, formerly of Hayfield, passed away on Feb. 1, 2021.
Visitation will be 12:30 – 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2021, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1st Street SE in Hayfield with the funeral service at 2 p.m.  Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.

It was a good week for Dodge County Wildcat hockey as both the girls’ and boys’ team won two games each.
The girls brought their overall season record to 4-1-0 with victories over Hopkins/St. Louis Park, 5-1, on Tuesday, January 26, and New Prague, 3-1, on Saturday, January 30. The boys defeated Hopkins on Tuesday,  3-2, and New Prague on Saturday bringing their record to     .
 
Girls’ Hockey
 

Last Friday night was a clash.  A clash of three Minnesota ranked teams. 
The stage was set. Literally. Simley’s main gym flooded over Christmas break when a water line broke, so this elite night of wrestling was moved into their auditorium. The wrestling mats were rolled out onto their stage. With theatrical lighting and selected walk-out songs, these three teams faced off in a triangular of state rankings.

Byron Girls Gymnastics season got off to a solid start despite falling short to the very strong and talented PIZM team. The girls accumulated 134.8 points to PIZM’s 137.3. The girls had several solid performances, led by Sophomore Amber Roble (2nd in the all-around) and Freshman Lydia Evans (3rd in the all-around). 
The team had several top five finishssr throughout the evening on each event.

Matt Bradford grew up in Mantorville and spent a lot of time during the summer riding his bike and fishing at the Mantorville Dam. Since his parents enjoyed camping they did a lot of that on weekends as his dad also really liked to fish. He grew up with two brothers and a sister and two of his siblings still live in the community.

It has been said that it takes a village to raise a child. It is also true that it takes a community to help feed those in need of a meal.

Scott Stroh has been brewing beer since he turned 21, when his parents gave him an at-home brew kit for Christmas. Now Stroh is operating Chaotic Good Brewing Company out of a back shed at his home in Kasson.
On Wednesday, Jan. 27, the Kasson City Council approved Stroh’s off sale liquor license during its regular meeting. Stroh must now get the off sale liquor license approved by the state, but he sees this as a formality.
