Byron Gymnast Amber Roble is heading to state in the all-round and helped lead the Byron team to a third place finish in the section meet. To qualify for the state meet a gymnast must finish top three in the all-around or finish basically top six on an individual event.

Like every sport, section wrestling has a new look to it this year. The COVID-19 safety rebuild, by the MSHS and MDH, now became Sections followed by a new Super-Sections.  
In a quite field house at Cannon Falls, with limited spectators, there was joy and there was pain for the KoMet wrestlers. Five KoMets punched their ticket to the MSHSL State wrestling tournament.

Dodge County Wildcats have been on a scoring binge in sectional action. After beating Waseca they scored 9 goals against Albert Lea on Saturday, March 20, in a 9-2 pummeling of the Tigers.
The Tigers scored first, at 2:09 of the first period. Then, the ‘Cats Brody Lamb scored two goals at 6:56 (assisted by Charlie Blaisdell) and 9:20 (Matt Donovan got the assist) in the first period.

Josh Welke grew up in Rochester and graduated from John Marshall High School. He said he really wasn’t involved with any activities in school but did have a 2001 Mustang which he still owns. He also said he did spend some time doing some drag racing at that time. 
He then attended Winona Technical School for two years in the Auto Mechanics and Body Repair course.

Father Jim Zotalis’ day job is to serve as the priest at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Kasson. But that doesn’t keep him from finding time to engage in his other passion – painting watercolors.
Teaching art was actually Zoltalis’ first career.

Matt Weyers, a history teacher at Byron Middle School, is one of only 120 teachers selected for a National History Day spring professional development program.
The course focuses on using online Library of Congress resources to develop and support historical arguments and is a feature of National History Day’s membership in the Library of Congress with Primary Sources Consortium.

David Robert Johnston, 72, of Rochester, passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021, due to complications from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
He was born April 22, 1948, the only child to Jean (Woodward) and Robert Johnston. He was always surrounded by many cousins, aunts and uncles, growing up on the family farm outside of Dodge Center.
