So maybe the Dot, as we called her, was in some way an angel in the dugout during the 2008 state high school Connecticut baseball tournament. Let me explain.

Three young Dodge County women will be sharing the title of Dodge County Dairy Princess for 2016. The three were officially crowned Saturday at the annual dairy banquet held at the Milton Township Hall.
Sharing the title are Makaila Klejeski, Morgan O’Brien and Haley Reber.

When Rachel Wilmes moved to Rochester in 2007 and was considering activities at the YMCA, she was torn between basketball and swimming. The problem, Rachel said, was that she was afraid of the water.
Her mother, Kathy, resolved the dilemma when she signed Rachel up for swimming. It was obviously a good decision.

Dodge County’s jail population jumped more than 25 percent in 2015, costing taxpayers about a half of million dollars to keep criminals locked up.
The jail census jumped to 22 last year from 16 the previous year, according to Sheriff Scott Rose. Criminals from Dodge County are housed at the Steele County Detention Center in Owatonna as Dodge does not have a jail. Steele County charges $55 per day for each inmate.

If the number of cars in the Triton High School parking lot Saturday morning was any indication, the 18th annual Dodge County Home and Business Expo was a great success.

The Kasson-Mantorville softball team opened up their season with a 7-1 victory over Northfield on Monday afternoon as they look to defend their back-to-back state championships. To pick up the victory, the KoMets used the familiar formula of strong pitching and a balanced attack throughout the lineup.

The Triton track and field team was able to get away from the mid-week snow and get their first meet of the season in last Thursday as part of the Early Bird Indoor at St. Mary’s University in Winona. The competition was a great chance for the Cobras to set the tone for the year and they did so by setting the bar high in several events.

Fourth, fifth and sixth graders from schools in the Zumbro Education District descended on Triton High School last Friday to show their science projects as part of the 24th Annual  ZED Science Fair.

Citizens Concerned About Rail Line (CCARL) will have its next meeting from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, at the Kenyon Wanamingo Elementary School, 225 Third Ave., Wanamingo.
