Mantorville approves resolution asking for special session

At their meeting July 25, the Mantorville City Council members unanimously approved a resolution supporting a special session of the state legislature to consider the 2016 Bonding Bill.
Mantorville and Kasson are partnering to process their wastewater and the cost of putting in the necessary pipeline and infrastructure is hefty. 

Council to replat Mathias Subdivision

With one lot sold and two more sales nearing completion the West Concord City Council last week gave its approval to replatting a portion of the subdivision to make the lots more lucrative.

Carol Jean (Bybee) Sash , 67, Hayfield

Carol was born on August 10, 1948, at St. Olaf Hospital in Austin, Minn., the only child of William and Leona (Hanson) Bybee.  She grew up in Fairmont, Minn., Charles City, Iowa, and Hayfield, Minn. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was baptized and confirmed. Carol graduated from Hayfield Community Schools in 1966, and she then attended Mankato Commercial College.  

Airport houses grounded aircraft

If you were to drive north on I-35 on any given day, the chances that you would see hundreds of aircraft grounded at Owatonna Denger Regional Airport should be pretty slim. However, that was not the case this past Sunday. 

Dennis Green passes at 67

Faith, family, and football.
Dennis Green preached those three ‘F’s, and in that specific order, to his players over 13 seasons as an NFL head coach, ten of which were with the Minnesota Vikings (1992-2001).
Green passed away late Thursday night at the age of 67 following complications of cardiac arrest.

Fielding questions from the fair

I love the fair!  My wife Rosie knows that when its fair week, I’ll be gone from open to close.  It’s something I’ve always loved working.   
I had many questions asked of me this past week:
• Why aren’t you standing in your booth?
• Why are you here day and night – you’re the boss?
• Why are you wearing a brown shirt and not white? 

Shelter returned after state inquiry

The park shelter that has been the center of controversy in Kasson for the past month was returned to the city only after the Minnesota State Auditor’s Office inquired about it.

High school pitch limit recommended

With spring high school baseball, summer little league or legion ball, and camps in the winter, baseball is becoming a year-round sport.
All of that throwing can put wear and tear on even the younger pitchers.
