Glen Edward Leighton, 81, of Eyota, passed away Saturday, Jan. 30, 2021 peacefully in his sleep at home.Glen was born on March 4, 1939 in Wasioja to Ed and Anna (Blood) Leighton. Glen attended Claremont High School and graduated from West Concord in 1957. On Jan. 21, 1961, he married Donna M. Egge at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester. Glen worked at IBM for 34 years.Glen's passion was horses.

Darrel Dan Kiefer, 64, of Rochester passed away at his home surrounded by his family on Monday Feb. 8, 2021. 

Boyd William Demmer, 94, passed away peacefully on Feb. 1, 2021 at Prairie Senior Cottages in New Richland, surrounded by family.

On Saturday, the KoMet wrestling team headed west bound on I-90 for another state ranked match-up. The day did not disappoint.  

Both the Dodge County girls and boys Wildcat hockey teams were on the ice last week with the boys team winning two games while the girls split at 1-1.
The boys went against Simley at home on Tuesday, Feb. 2, coming away with a 6-4 victory.
It was a busy first period as the Wildcats scored first at 0:15 with a goal by Brendon Wolesky and again at 3:07 with a goal by Brody Lamb.

Byron voters will be going to the polls on May 11 to decide the fate of a two-question bond referendum that totals more than $40 million.
The school board approved the referendum and the election date at a special meeting on Monday night.

Ron Unger grew up in Kasson in the 1960’s and 70’s, along Mantorville Avenue two blocks north of Main Street, “downtown” as he called it, with an older sister, Paula and a younger brother, Jerry. His parents, Bud and Rosie lived in their 100-year-old house since 1958 up until two years ago when they moved to Pine Island.

Byron and Kasson have decided to give bars and restaurants a break, by either waiving or rebating their 2021 on-sale liquor license fees. In other surrounding communities, the topic is on the minds of city leaders and they may follow suit.
