The Kasson-Mantorville girls soccer team will hold an epilepsy awareness game on Saturday afternoon when they face St. Peter at KMTelecom Stadium. The game, which is slated for a 4 p.m. kickoff, will have plenty of festivities for fans including T-shirts, a raffle at halftime and an auction.

The Kasson-Mantorville girls soccer team would like to pick up where it left off a season ago. As the defending HVL champions and the top seed in the Section 1AA tournament last fall, they’ll need to rack up victories against the teams that will be their biggest challenge in a possible march to the state tournament.

The Kasson-Mantorville boys soccer team opened with an up-and-down week that saw a crushing defeat against Albert Lea, but a solid section victory against La Crescent.

From an overall standpoint, the Kasson-Mantorville girls soccer team had a terrific season last year. They captured the HVL championship after toppling their rival Rochester Lourdes in mid-October and earned the top seed in the Section 1AA tournament.

New Kasson-Mantorville boys soccer coach Leo Barbosa knows what it takes to win. As a passionate player that grew up in Brazil, he has come to the states to help instill his passion into his players. While passion is just part of the question, Barbosa is making sure that his players know that it’ll take more than passion to stay atop of the HVL this fall.
