The Kasson-Mantorville girls soccer team went into their section seeding meeting a couple weeks ago thinking that they would get a pretty good draw for the upcoming tournament. The KoMets had played a tough schedule and had been playing some of their best soccer of the season leading up to the tourney, so a higher seed would have been something they felt they deserved.

The Kasson-Mantorville football team has had a tremendous season to date as they won their first six games of the season dating back to last Friday’s tilt against Pine Island. As they took the turf at KMTelecom Stadium, they had an opportunity to clinch their first division championship since 2013 (shared with Rochester Lourdes and Stewartville) and first outright title since 2009.

The season has not gone as planned for the Kasson-Mantorville boys soccer team as they entered this past week with just one victory on the season. Although the success hasn’t come in the amount they would like, the KoMets are keeping their heads up and continuing to grind through with the hope that these lumps can turn into lessons that could set up momentum for next year.

The recent battles between the Kasson-Mantorville and Rochester Lourdes football team has been one-sided coming into their annual matchup on October 6. With the KoMets hosting a homecoming crowd, this year’s edition already had a big-time feel, but the extra pressure of dealing with past defeats was also something that hung in the air.

Homecoming week is an exciting time for any area high school. As many alumni and the community get involved to help celebrate their local traditions, there are several events that take place. From the coronation of the homecoming king and queen to the parade later in the afternoon, everything has a certain itinerary that has been tried and true over the years with the culmination of the Friday night football game. 

The Kasson-Mantorville football team knows a thing or two about adversity. As they came up through the lower levels of the football program, they weren’t seeing a lot of success. With three wins in each of their seventh and eighth grade seasons, the KoMets had to work hard to where they are today as one of the top-ranked teams in the state.
