When Amy Petersen’s now 26-year-old son Matthew came home with a flier for Byron youth wrestling, she was convinced to sign him up.
“We gave it a try and he kind of fell in love with the sport,” Petersen said.
Then, his younger brothers followed in his steps.
“Then we all fell in love with the sport and have been part of it for 20 years,” Petersen said.

The Byron Bears football team dominated Kasson-Mantorville, during K-M’s homecoming game 42-0.
Byron scored first off of a 55 yard touchdown run by Carson Heimer in the first quarter. He scored a second touchdown later in the first off of a 41 yard run. Brevin Brakke also scored in the first quarter.

In addition to beating Hayfield during its homecoming matchup, the Triton Cobras volleyball team lost to Faribault Bethlehem Academy 3-0 at home.

The Triton/K-W/Hayfield girls soccer team was shutout three times last week to end its regular season.
In its game on the road against Wings United(St. James) Triton was shutout 1-0.
Goalkeeper Alyssa Knudson had six saves in the game.
In the team’s senior night, Triton suffered a 3-0 defeat, with Knudson ending the game with eight saves.

The Hayfield Cross Country team was the only area school to compete last week, running at the LARP Invitational.
For the men's team freshman Chapel Young finished 60th overall with a time of 20:56.3, junior Steven Gillette finished 82nd with a time of 22:22.20, and senior  Joseph Gillespie finished with a time of 24:31.30.

The Kasson-Mantorville/Triton KoMeTs finished its regular season with a loss to Dover-Eyota 2-1 in Kasson.
Miguel Martinez scored the only goal for the  KoMeTs, while goalkeeper Riley Mitchell had six saves in the game.
Win over Waseca
Earlier in the week the team beat Waseca in a Section matchup winning 2-1.
