Huskies to play in Section 1-AA finals

In the first round of the section tournament, the fourth-seeded Owatonna Huskies were awarded a home playoff game in which they would host the Rochester Mayo Spartans. 
In a loss and you’re out scenario, Owatonna’s Nate Smith made it clear that the Huskies weren’t ready to end their season early.

Students and staffs at both the Blooming Prairie Elementary School and the Blooming Prairie High School exited their buildings quickly and smoothly on Tuesday morning, Oct. 11 in drills organized by the BP Fire Department.

Father gets anger management for punishing child

A father who apparently lost it and allegedly choked his son during an argument earlier this year has been ordered to undergo anger management.
In addition to anger classes, Frank Ernest Bernau, 34, of Kasson will be required to get involved in 90 hours of community work service and he has been placed on probation over the next two years.

If you haven’t figured out what I’m referring to, it’s the local newspaper. There are times when we hit the mark and knock it out of the water with our great local community coverage. And then there are times when we fall short and make some mistakes. 

Cobras gore Saints on the ground in big win

Last week, the Triton football team took to the air to hold off a tough test from Chatfield. With quarterback Brady Essig throwing for 240 yards, the Cobras were able to show a new dimension to their offense that hadn’t been seen in recent history. With that in mind, the Cobras elected to show their more traditional dominance on the ground last Friday night when they beat up St. Charles for 399 yards on the ground in a 54-38 victory.

KoMets hold off Bears on Homecoming night

Over the past couple of weeks, the Kasson-Mantorville football team had been trending in the wrong direction. While they were riding high after a 3-0 start, back-to-back losses to Stewartville and Rochester Lourdes had the KoMets scratching their heads and wondering what it would take to get back to the level of play they had in the first three weeks.

Apples take center stage at Triton Elementary

Monday, Sept. 26, was John Chapman’s birthday. Who is John Chapman you ask? We know him better today as Johnny Appleseed and students at Triton Elementary School celebrated both Chapman and the apples he introduced all last week.
