Having attended so many events as a resident, a journalist, and a resident journalist in our little area of the world, southeast Minnesota, I have come to one inescapable conclusion: We are incredibly lucky to live here.
In summer you can nd festivals galore, unique shops, things to do, and miles of beautiful green countryside, accessible by the ol’ gravel backroads.

It probably comes as no suprise to must. Health care is top-notch in Minnesota, especially in our corner of southeastern Minnesota. Of course, it doesn’t hurt having the mecca of health facilities right down the road just minutes away in Rochester.

Kids’ imaginations are pretty powerful.
How else can you explain the idea of using a pizza box to make a solar-cooker?
That creation and many more are part of a “recycled art” project and contest based on the Kasson Public Library’s ‘Building a Better World’ summer program.
Library assistant Melanie Bersano said the idea was to use old household items to make an interesting new creation.

The owners of Mantorville’s County Seat Coffeehouse will celebrate its 10th anniversary with an open house from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15. Free coffee and cake will be offered as thanks to their loyal customers.

I had never wanted anything more than I wanted my driver’s license.
I thought it was something that I couldn’t survive without, that it was essential to being a teenager. Being the dramatic person I am, I made getting my drivers license into a big deal.
But anyone who is even slightly educated about driving knows that getting your license is a long process.
