Sharon Kaye (Larson) Seedorf, 76, of Woodbury, formerly of Albert Lea died unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2018 while at her winter home in Lake Havasu, Ariz.
Sharon was born at home in Freeborn County on April 26, 1941. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1958. Sharon married Gary Seedorf in 1963 at Grace Lutheran Church and they lived outside of Alden until moving to Barstow, Calif. in 1965. 

Otilla Anderson,107, lifelong resident of Blooming Prairie and currently of Mankato, died Monday, Jan. 29, 2018 at Oaklawn Healthcare Center in Mankato.
Funeral service was held Monday, Feb. 5, 2018 at Community Lutheran Church in Geneva. Burial was held at the Danish Baptist Cemetery.

My mother and I decided to go on a college visit this past weekend. Luckily it happened to fall on the same weekend we had decided to visit my sister in Winona.
For some odd reason we thought it was entirely reasonable to take a four-hour car ride up to the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and then to back track our way through Wisconsin all the way down to Winona State to visit my sister. 

It's a;ways fun to visit with high school kids. You've gotta love the humor, the nuttiness, the innocence, the angst.
Overheard a while back buring lunch in the commons of an area school:
High school guy: “What do you think? Should we just be friends?”
High school girl: “Yeah, I guess. That sounds good.”

Every so often I run inot people, mostly young children, who ask good questions that sometimes make me even think for a moment.
Such was the case last week when I attended Ash Wednesday services and heard some children asking about the ashes. In between kids exchanging hearts and treats for Valentine’s Day and adults giving roses, they were also having the sign of the cross smudged with ashes on their foreheads.

Looking at the Kasson-Mantorville wrestling team’s schedule at the beginning of the season, it was clear that the KoMets would have another road to return to the state tournament.

The annual KoMets vs. Cancer campaign had raised $18,605 as of Tuesday, event coordinator Michele Lindquist said.
This year’s goal was to raise $15,000. Just more than $20,000 was raised during the 2017 event.
