In January of 2016, K-M alum Brian Hunn began working at Kasson-Mantorville Elementary School as a paraprofessional.
Ever since then, Hunn has had the idea of one day creating a running club. Now that idea has become a reality, as the KoMet Running Club is in full swing.

For four years, Thomas Sutherland of Dodge Center committed his life to the country, as a member of the United States Army.
Now people in the community are committed to helping him and his family as they go through a very difficult time in life.

Arline Lorraine (Bendorf) Sepin, 97, of Dodge Center, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2019 in Rochester.
Arline was born on Nov. 10, 1921 to Alma Eleanor Bendorf in Steele County.
She married Everett Edward Sepin on Nov. 22, 1939 in Owatonna. Together they had two children. Arline worked as a librarian for 16 years and also as a clerk at Nelson’s Red Owl for 22 years.

Marion Phyllis Jorgensen was born on June 29, 1925 on a family farm near Hanska, to John and Hilda Brekke. The Lord called her home on Sunday, April 7, 2019.
On Feb. 22, 1947, she married Einar Jorgensen in Madelia. They made homes in Preston, Deer River, Byron and then settled in 1958 to their home in Kasson.

I went into a state of beyond frustration, if there is such a thing, the other night while trying to help out my parents.
A few Sundays ago, the DirecTV service at my parents’ house went out. Somehow, I got the lucky task of trying to help them resolve the issue.

April is Autism Awareness month, a month where people around the country and world are encouraged to bring awareness and to talk about the Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Over the years, Autism and other disorders and disabilities have become more acceptable in society.

At a special meeting April 9, members of the Byron Economic Development Authority agreed to sell about four acres of land to the Fareway Corporation for about $435,000. At the regular city council meeting that same evening, city council members agreed to the sale, and Mayor Daryl Glassmaker made the announcement, “Fareway is coming to town.”
At the EDA meeting, Glassmaker said, “They wanted to be part of a growing community.”

In 2014, Tim Rasmusson passed away unexpectedly from an ascending aortic aneurysm.
Since then, Tim’s parents Jackie and Steve, along with his friends and family, have held a 5K fun run/walk in honor of him and to help raise money and awareness for a good cause.
The annual event helps raise money for the Gift of Life Transplant House and helps bring awareness for the importance of organ donations.

Taylor Cierra Zylstra-Sletten, 16, of West Concord, died Thursday, April 11, 2019 at her home. 
She was born May 21, 2002 in Owatonna, the daughter of Christine Janke and David Zylstra. Taylor attended Blooming Prairie Schools through sixth grade at which time she transferred to Kenyon-Wanamingo School District. She played softball for K-W and loves to work on her car and build and drive derby cars.
