Wonderland WHIMSY offers art, coffee

Wonderland Whimsy is one of the newest businesses in Kasson, offering patrons a chance to “sip, savor & shop.”
Jamie Walston  opened Wonderland Whimsy this summer at 301 Main St. in Kasson. Originally, she was looking at opening a tea house, which didn’t work out. But then she found the location in Kasson and decided that would be the place to combine her idea of art with a café. Currently she has a variety of art classes for all ages, has some art supplies for sale, can accommodate private events, and has a variety of drinks including coffee, bubble tea, energy drinks and dirty sodas, as well as some sweet treats. She hopes to be offering more food in the future.
Her original name for her business, she said, was Mad Hatter, but that name was already taken so she decided on Wonderland Whimsy.
She offers a variety of painting events for adults, with some currently geared toward Halloween. There are opportunities for both daytime and evening classes. Public Paint Parties are open to everyone. No experience is necessary as instructors will guide you step-by-step through creating your own masterpiece.
There are numerous opportunities for the youngsters, she said, including a Friday night drop-off and Saturday morning activity for youngsters 5 and up.
She has enough space, she said, so that events for children and adults can be held at the same time.
Creative activities for young artists, she said, will provide them with fun art exploration, after school activities, during school breaks and summer vacations. There are also programs for home-schooled kids, she said.
Wonderland Whimsy can also accommodate private paint parties for a group. They are perfect, she said, for birthdays, bachelorette parties, team, building or just a fun night with friends.
Walston said she wants Wonderland Whimsy to become a hub for art.
She also stresses that no experience is needed because she would “rather (have people) do bad art than no art.”
