Woman faces felony assault charge

A Kasson woman has been criminally charged after accusations of domestic assault.
Yasmeenah Nee Dancil, 31, faces one count of domestic assault by strangulation, a felony, and one misdemeanor count each of domestic assault and fifth-degree assault.
She was scheduled to make her initial appearance Wednesday in Dodge County District Court.
The charges stem from an alleged incident May 30, when a woman told Kasson Police that Dancil had assaulted her at their home.
According to the criminal complaint, the victim said she came out of the bathroom to find Dancil going through her phone — then Dancil punched her in the face.
The officer’s report notes a gash and a bruise on the woman’s nose, as well as injuries behind her ear and “significant marks” on her neck.
She told the officer she went back into the bathroom; Dancil followed her and allegedly continued to hit her. The victim said when she left the bathroom, Dancil shoved her onto the bed and continued to hit her, court documents say.
While on the bed, the victim was on her back; Dancil began strangling her, the documents continue. The woman said she used her foot and pulled Dancil’s hair to get Dancil off of her.
A witness reportedly confirmed Dancil hit the other woman in the back of the head.
When officers spoke to Dancil, she denied starting an altercation, claiming that the woman hit her first.
According to the complaint, Dancil said the victim grabbed her hair, hit her in the face and used her foot to push on Dancil’s neck; that’s when, Dancil said, she put her hands on the other woman’s neck to hold her back.
Dancil denied causing the injuries police noted on the alleged victim.
