We are well into fall sports, Homecoming, Halloween next

Hard to believe but we are now well into the fall high school sports season and Homecoming festivities.
It was a good week for local football teams last Friday as all four of the schools in the DCI coverage area chalked up wins. Congratulations to Byron, Kasson-Mantorville, Hayfield and Triton.
Homecoming festivities in Dodge County wrap up this week both Hayfield and Triton choosing their Homecoming royalty, having parades and other fun activities and moving on to the football games and dances.
There is one more big event coming up before the end of October and that is the annual Fall Festival in Mantorville.
This year’s event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 29.
There are a variety of activities going on during the day but if you would like to get an early start on your Saturday you are invited to come to the fourth annual “Haunted Hustle” 5K run and 1-mile Family Fun Run.
The race begins at Riverside Park in Mantorville and the 5K winds its way through the cemetery. Participants are also invited to wear their Halloween costumes. There will be prizes for the top race finishers and the best costumes. And all participants will have a chance to enter for prize drawings.
A portion of the proceeds from the Haunted Hustle will benefit Early Childhood Education in Dodge County.
The run is sponsored by Dodge Refreshed and is a fun event that benefits a good cause. And I would say that even if I wasn’t part of the Dodge Refreshed group.
After the run stick around Mantorville and take in the other Fall Festival events. I hear there is even a dog costume contest planned. I wonder if Frankie the Dachshund, who shares my house, would wear a costume? I don’t know about Frankie, but I am willing to bet that Moose the Great Dane will put in an appearance.
