WC library closed until July 8 to give time for move

Remodeling is nearing an end and West Concord officials are confident that the West Concord Public Library will be re-opening to patrons on July 8 in its old location at City Hall. To prepare for the move from the temporary quarters in the old hardware store the library is now closed to the public.
The library space in City Hall was closed last year and moved to a temporary location to give workers time to remove the old fixtures and do painting, install new carpets, ceiling and lighting and install new shelving.
The library space now features a new ceiling, new light fixtures and the carpeting was being installed last week. New shelving has arrived and will be installed this month.
In preparation for the move back to City Hall, the library has been closed since June 14 so volunteers and library staff could help pack up the books for an orderly transfer.
Anyone who would like to help with the process should stop by the library or city hall.
It is anticipated that the actual moving of the books back to the City Hall location will be done between now and June 30. The city has sold the old hardware store building and the new owner is scheduled to take possession of the building on July 1.
After the books have been moved back to the City Hall, it is planned that the first week in July will be spent getting everything in order to be ready for a July 8 re-opening.
An official Grand Opening of the library is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 26, as part of the opening night festivities for Survival Days.
