Triton sends levy question to ballot
At a short special meeting Monday night, Triton’s school board approved a Capital Project Levy that will raise approximately $650,000 in taxes payable in 2026, the first year it is to be levied. The levy would be authorized for 10 years and will be presented to the voters in a special election on November 4, 2025.
The estimated total cost of the projects funded by the levy over the 10 years will be approximately $6,500,000. Funds will be used for acquisition, installation, replacement and maintenance of software and devices, improved technology, technology systems, networks, infrastructure, office and instruction technology, to pay the cost of related personnel and training, acquisition of curriculum, textbooks and curriculum, textbooks, deferred maintenance and the acquisition of replacement school buses and other transportation devices.
The levy will be assessed on residential homestead, commercial/industrial, agricultural homestead, and agricultural non-homestead properties.
The district estimates that for a residential homestead with a market value of $100,000, the annual cost would be $20; for a home valued at $250,000, it would be $72 a year; and for a home with a value of $500,000, it would be $138 a year.
