Triton Blood Drive set for Dec. 19

 
For many years the Triton Chapter of the MN Honor Society have helped those in need by hosting an annual blood drive.
 
While at first they started off by having one per year in the last five years that has expanded to one drive per semester.
 
Shelby Maloney, the President of the Triton Chapter said that they are glad to host the drive once per semester because it helps them with their commitment towards service in the community.
 
“It helps the community and people in need of blood,” Maloney said, “service is one of the pillars of the honor society and by having the blood drive at school it makes it easier for classmates to also help the community,” she added.
 
The advisor for the group Christi Kreigh, explained that over the years the success of the blood drives have gone up and this year they hope that trend continues.
 
In recent years Triton has also had their fair share of success with blood drives, last year receiving a certificate for collecting 89 units of blood during their blood drives.
 
One of the goals every year for them is to be able to get at least 70 units of blood during their two drives.
 
By doing this they are able to get $500 worth of scholarships to give out to students.
 
Anyone in the community who is interested in donating blood is encouraged to do so at the drive on Dec. 19, from 9 - 2 p.m.
