Spotlight on K-M’s high school Esports team

Our high school is proud to be at the forefront of a growing and exciting trend—esports. As competitive gaming continues to gain recognition across the country, our esports team is leading the charge, offering students the opportunity to engage in a fast-paced, skill-driven environment that blends teamwork, strategy, and technology.
“The goal of our esports program is to provide a new and exciting avenue for students to discover the power of teamwork, camaraderie, and a positive attitude in all aspects of life not just video games,” XXX Cameron Baker said.
Esports is more than just gaming. It requires collaboration, critical thinking, communication, and quick decision-making, all skills that translate into success both in and out of the classroom. Our team competes in a variety of games, including popular titles like Valorant and Fortnite. Valorant is an extremely team-oriented game that requires the pinnacle of teamwork, communication and strategy to be successful. These competitions allow our students to sharpen their gaming abilities, but they also foster camaraderie and school pride as they face off against teams from other schools.
This year, we’re especially excited to grow our program even further. Our esports team not only competes locally but has the potential to qualify for state and national tournaments, offering a platform to showcase their talents on a larger stage. The world of esports offers scholarships and career opportunities for those interested in technology, game development, and the expanding esports industry.
Whether you’re a seasoned gamer or just starting out, our esports team welcomes all who want to improve their skills, be part of a competitive yet supportive environment, and represent our school. We are excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to see how our team performs this season.
