There will be two new faces on the sidelines of winter sports next school year as a pair of coaches have resigned from their positions.

Winona stops KoMets short of state

As the days led into the Section 1AAA final between Kasson-Mantorville and Winona, there was a feeling that this was a showdown between two of the top girls basketball teams in the state. Despite the level of competition, only one of the two teams could make it to this week’s state tournament.

KoMets to defend section title against Winona

The Kasson-Mantorville girls basketball team will look to make their third consecutive trip to next week’s state tournament as they defeated Stewartville and Northfield to set up a showdown with top-seeded Winona on Thursday night. This will mark the fifth straight season the KoMets have made it to the section championship game.

STATE CHAMPS

The Kasson-Mantorville wrestling team went to the state wrestling tournament with two goals on Thursday. The first was the desire to earn the second Minnesota Class AA wrestling championship in school history.
The second goal was to dominate in the process.

K-M competes at Whitehall meet

The Kasson-Mantorville powerlifting team competed in the Whitehall High School State Qualifying Meet on February 27. The meet was a large one as 18 different schools participated with a total of 180 lifters. Even though all lifters competed at the varsity level, K-M was able to hold its own.

Triton wins first playoff game since 2008-09

At the beginning of the season, first-year Triton boys basketball coach Zak Hanegraaf had a dilemma. Due to fall activities or injuries sustained in the first week of practice, three of his players that he had been counting on for minutes sustained injuries that would keep them out for the season.

KoMets claim second straight HVL Championship

The Kasson-Mantorville girls basketball team earned their second consecutive HVL championship when they defeated Goodhue in the conference championship game on February 20. The win also gave the KoMets their second straight undefeated season in the HVL with a perfect 17-0 record.
