Seal coating underway around Steele County
Road crews began seal coating several highways throughout Steele County on Monday.
They include:
• CSAH 6 (US 14 to US 218) in Owatonna and Aurora townships
• CSAH 9 (CSAH 23 to CSAH 45) in the City of Owatonna and Clinton Falls Township
• CSAH 9 (CSAH 34 to CSAH 8) in Clinton Falls and Merton townships
• CSAH 12 (CSAH 17 to CSAH 23) in Deerfield and Medford townships
• CSAH 17 (CSAH 7 to TH 14) in Meriden Township
• CSAH 23 (CSAH 2 to CSAH 12) in the Cities of Owatonna & Medford, Clinton Falls and Medford townships
• CSAH 34 (CSAH 8 to CSAH 9) in the City of Owatonna and Clinton Falls Township
• CSAH 60 (CSAH 45 to US 218) in Owatonna Township
• CSAH 11 (CSAH 23 to Rice Co) in Deerfield Township
• CSAH 18 (NW 53rd St to CSAH 23) in Deerfield Township
• CR 111 (CR 112 to CSAH 23) in Deerfield Township.
The work includes spraying the existing road surfaces with bituminous material and then covering with aggregate chips to help extend the pavement life. A fog seal will be applied a few days later, then the pavement markings will be reapplied. The work is expected to take about three weeks.
While the work is in progress, the highways will be open to traffic but there will be lane closures with flaggers. Expect significant delays during construction operations.
Steele County advises motorists to drive with caution and slow down through work zones for their safety and for the safety of the construction crews.
