Rain dampens Cruisin’ For Cancer in Kasson

Poor weather impacted the 4th Annual Cruisin’ For Cancer on June 24 in Kasson.
Fifty people turned out for the event, said organizer Tanya Young. They raised $3,000, which was shy of the goal for the St. John’s Warriors but “overall it went good,” Young said.
Because of rain, the fundraiser organizers didn’t put up the bounce house and other outdoor games. They also didn’t put out the luminaries as planned.
Next for the St. John’s Warriors is the Dad’s Belgian Waffles fundraiser on July 30 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church at 301 8th Ave. NW in Kason.
During Dad’s Belgian Waffles, on July 30, donations will, like with Cruisin’ For Cancer, go to the Dodge County Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society. Cost is $10 for adults, $7 for kids ages 6-12, and kids 5 and younger are free. To go meals are also available.
All total, Young said they hope to raise about $10,000 from the two events. “Every donation is appreciated and goes toward a great cause,” she said.
