Promotion prompts OPD changes

With the promotion of Capt. Jeff Mundale to chief of the Owatonna Police Department, other changes in personnel are coming.
Mundale will assume his new role on July 1, upon the retirement of Police Chief Keith Hiller. Hiller, a native of Owatonna, has held the position since 2010.
Additional promotions include Detective Sgt. Andy Drenth moving to patrol captain; and patrol officer Matt Oeltjenbruns moving to the rank of patrol sergeant, both effective June 5.
Patrol Sgt. Ben Johnson will be assigned to the detective sergeant position on June 19, a role that also includes command of the drug task force.
In addition, the department will initiate a hiring process for a new patrol officer, as the succession plan continues.
