Now or never to get ambulance crisis right

It's no secret, there needs to be changes made, in order to continue operating ambulances in Greater Minnesota, and elsewhere.
But what the solution is, still up for debate, months later, in Dodge County.
As you may have read on the front page of the paper, negotiations are at best up in the air, on how to create a sustainable funding structure for the Dodge Center Ambulance.
Just a couple of weeks ago, officials were anxiously waiting to find out if a deal that was negotiated during a private meeting (The DCI nor the public were invited or allowed to attend the meeting.) would be enough to form a Taxing District.
As you can read in detail in our A1 story, not all were happy with the compromised proposal, and now it will be up to leaders of Dodge Center, Claremont, Mantorville, and Kasson along with numerous townships, to come up with a solution to move forward.
If negotiations break down altogether, and the State doesn't come up with a long-term solution, then it’s possible the Dodge Center Ambulance will be yet another rural Minnesota ambulance provider, to close its doors all together.
For the sake of thousands of Dodge County residents, let's hope there can be some type of compromise.
In the meantime, we will continue to ask the important questions, facing the community, no matter how tough they may be.
