Take a drive on a summer day and you’re sure to find some kids riding their bicycles. Before that can happen, the kids need to learn about bicycle safety.
Now, some area kids can check that off their to-do list.
Just Like Home School Age Child Care, in collaboration with K-M Community Education and Project Kids, hosted the first Community Bike Rodeo on Wednesday, June 14 at Kasson’s Community Education building.

A Dodge County man was killed in a single-car crash Sunday afternoon.
Todd Carl Zimmerman, 48, of Dodge Center pronounced dead at the scene. Zimmerman was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Suburban eastbound on Wabasha County Road 15 about 2.5 miles west of U.S. Highway 63 at about 1: 30 p.m. when the vehicle left the roadway, ending up on its roof and striking a power pole, according to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol.

The Kasson-Mantorville track and field team has a tough draw when it comes to qualifying for the state meet every year. In the current twoclass system, the KoMets are mixed into Class AA where they have to compete against schools that have enrollments that dwarf the talent pool that K-M has. 
 

Allen, Kenny and Ron Durst were driving tractors by age 5.
“I could drive a tractor before I could tie my own shoes,” Ron said. “The workforce on the farm was the family.”
The brothers went on to operate Durst Brothers Dairy, one of the region’s largest and most successful and respected dairy farms.

Can you imagine doing your job without the proper tools or equipment? Unfortunately, that’s a reality that many kids face as they head to school each fall.
To prevent this predicament, the Ready, Set, Learn program of Dodge County is collecting school supplies until the end of July. Drop-off bins are located in the front of Shopko Hometown and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson.

Hard to believe the burly bearded fellows with the horns had more fun than those who competed Saturday in the Kubbing to Kick Cancer tournament at Veterans Memorial Park in Kasson.
