David Matthiesen, 78, of Kasson, died on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Saint Marys campus in Rochester.
David was born in Austin, on October 9, 1942 to Ollene (Granle) and Adonnis Matthiesen, living his childhood days around the Austin area.

Area residents will get a chance to help raise funds for the Gold Star Memorial planned for Mantorville the Steel Horse Militia, along with Kasson American Legion Post 333, sponsors a special day of activities on Saturday, July 24.
Steel Horse Militia is a non-profit organization that does charity work, helps veterans and supports the Second Amendment, said Travis Bretzman of Mantorville who is secretary of the organization.
MBT Bank of Forest City, Iowa has entered into an agreement to acquire Citizens State Bank of Hayfield and Farmers & Merchants State Bank in Blooming Prairie. MBT announced the agreement last week.
Citizens State Bank has offices in Hayfield, Dodge Center and Mantorville. Farmers & Merchants State Bank has locations in Blooming Prairie and Austin.
MBT Bank of Forest City, Iowa has acquired banks in Dodge, Steele and Mower counties.

Droves of people will be making their way to the one-year delayed Dodge County Free Fair that begins Wednesday, July 14 at the fairgrounds. After a year off due to the global pandemic, the excitement is building to get out and do what’s normal in southeast Minnesota.
