Patricia Shaffer-Gottschalk grew up in Port Clinton, Ohio, about the size of Kasson, by Lake Erie with two sisters who still live in Ohio. The city has been nicknamed “The Walleye Capital of the World” due to the great fishing areas offshore in Lake Erie (wonder how Minnesota feels about that?).
After delays in opening, El Patron Mexican Grill & Cantina opened Nov. 24 in the old Daniel’s Restaurant location in Kasson.
The restaurant serves authentic Mexican food, with dozens of items on the expansive menu. Most popular menu items are the enchiladas supreme, cowboy fajitas and the chimichangas, said Adolfo Angel, El Patron manager.
No one is surprised when an eight-foot gator climbs out of a South Carolina water hazard and trapes across a tee box. But it’s not quite as common in Minnesota.
A three-foot alligator emerged 10 feet in front of Cory Klocek when he was hunting near East Bethel on Saturday’s opener.
It being 2020, this strange encounter led Klocek to contact the DNR. He was given permission by a game warden to shoot the gator.
Marilyn Marie Erickson, 84, of Hayfield passed away on Nov. 20, 2020, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester.
Marilyn was born on July 21, 1936, the daughter of Richard and Ruth (Johnson) Rongstad in Murray County, Dovray, MN.
KoMets home game against Minneota started out pretty repetitive. KM’s Maddy Cummings got the first point of the match and Maddie Converse fed off of that energy with getting her eleventh Ace of the season.
Covid-19 once again dictated the football schedule for the KoMets. No longer was there to be a full play-off bracket for the section title, but rather one game, head-to-head for the crown. No state berth, no advancement.
The KoMets secured the #1 seed in the section, going 4-1 on the season and undefeated in section play. Byron sealed the #2 seed.
Todd Nelson lived in Austin his first 11 years before his family moved three miles north to a rural acreage. That move put his family in the Hayfield School district which was 18 miles away.
He was the middle child in a family of seven boys and two girls. He was active in sports playing football and basketball for Hayfield.
