It was another successful dinner and auction for Kasson-Mantorville Care & Share last Thursday night, this time in a new location.
In the past the event has been held at Kasson-Mantorville High School but this year it moved to Kasson’s new Fire Station.

As a 24-year veteran of the Minnesota National Guard, I know that when you raise your hand to serve, you’re not just sacrificing your time. You’re sacrificing your health, safety, personal freedoms, and time with family in service to your country.

Halloween has been known to be the source of some pretty good pranks over the years.
Long-time residents of southeastern Minnesota may recall the great Halloween ice storm of 1991 when power was knocked out in some parts for a week or more. I remember working as a cub reporter at KAAL-TV when the station got knocked off the air.

Elizabeth Armstrong received the most votes in the Kasson-Mantorville School Board race, and is one of three who will be newcomers to the board come January.
Armstrong received 21.22% according to the unofficial results, followed by Amy Olson, who resigned from the School Board in October, as previously reported by the DCI. Olson received 20.78%.
 

 
The Minnesota Secretary of State’s Office announced last week that early estimates would indicate a turnout of around 76% for the 2024 Election. This figure is unofficial until canvassing boards meet to certify results.
This exceeds the 2016 turnout of 74.72% but falls short of the record-making voter turnout of 79.96% in 2020. Historical voter turnout statistics are available online.

AJ Anderson and Steven Feist were elected to the Hayfield City Council, with Anderson earning 39.19% of the vote while Feist earned 26.55%.
Coming in third place was Joshua R Therring who earned 18.03% of the vote, and Garrett Herman earned 15.07%.
In the School Board race Justin Holtan, Patrick Towey Jr., Kathy Hegna Zelinske, and Heather Swygman all won their re-election bids running unopposed.
 

Braedon Dostal received the most votes in the Dodge Center City Council race receiving 749 votes which was 37.89% of the votes.
The other candidate elected was longtime City Councilor Cathy Skogen who received 720 votes which was 36.42% of the votes.
David Myrom received 248 votes which was 12.54% of the vote to come in third place, and Matt Legler came in last with 241 votes which was 12.19% of the vote total.

Daryl Glassmaker will remain the Byron Mayor, after receiving over 90% of the vote in the uncontested race.
According to the unofficial results, Glassmaker received 2,921 votes, which was 96.63% of the vote total.
For City Council Steven Cook was elected with 50.35% of the vote and Daniel Mesenburg was elected with 48.51% of the vote according to the unofficial results. No other candidates ran for the city council.
 

John Allen and David Kenworthy will continue to serve as Dodge County Commissioners, after winning their reelection bids.
Allen received 2,202 votes in the District 1 race earning 98.66% of the votes. Meanwhile Kenworthy received 1,737 votes earning 87.16% of the vote. 256 voters voted for a write-in candidate, in the uncontested race.
