Byron Legion loses in second round

On Monday, July 18, the Byron Legion Post 119 baseball boys lost a 5-4 nail-biter to the Rochester Post 92 A’s, in the second round of the First District American Legion playoffs.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Jerry Fletcher led off with a triple to center field. He was then brought home by older brother Josh Fletcher on a sacrifice fly to provide the A's a 5-4 victory. The A’s were the No. 1 seed in the tournament, and Byron was the No. 8 seed. Sam Johnston was the winning pitcher, getting it in relief. He entered in the sixth inning and allowed one hit and no runs. Josh Fletcher was the starter.

Byron legion Post 119 finishes regular season
Byron Legion Post 119 boys were busy on the diamond last week, as they completed regular season play. On Monday, July 11, Byron defeated the Mayo Redhawks, 6-5; on Tuesday, July 12, Kasson edged-out Byron, 2-1; and closing things out on Thursday, July 14, the Patriots defeated Byron, 7-2.
Redhawks Game:  Byron scored two in the first and three more in the second to take a 5-3 lead, but a run in the fifth proved to be the run it needed. The Redhawks scored a run in the sixth and the seventh. Carson Beavers finished 2-for-4 with two doubles to lead Rochester.

Patriots Game: Aiden Smoley smacked a three-run tater and the Pats never looked back. Jayden Guillete and Cayden McLaughlin-Cherevko each had two hits to lead a Patriots offense that finished with 10 hits.

K-M Post 333 ends regular season
The Kasson-Mantorville Legion baseball team finished regular season play last week with a 13-4 loss to Stewartville on Friday, July 8; followed by a 2-1 win over Byron on Tuesday, July 12.
Stewie Game: The Kasson bunch just couldn’t come-up with enough timely hits, and Stewartville was potent at the plate the entire game. (Stewie: 13 Runs, 9 Hits, 1 Error): (K-M: 4 Runs, 5 Hits, 6 Errors).

Byron Game: It was a low scoring but very exciting game versus a tough Byron squad on July 12. “Pitching and defense was outstanding. The guys were determined and poised for a victory,” said Coach Logan Cimmiyotti. (K-M: 2 Runs, 4 Hits, 2 Errors): (Byron: 1 Run, 4 Hits, 0 Errors).
