Kasson selling pool passes summer 2021

The city of Kasson has started selling pool passes for summer 2021.
Ron Unger, Parks and Recreation Supervisor, said the city is considering two plans for opening the Kasson Aquatic Center. Both plans are outlined on the city’s website.
 “We’re hoping everybody will be vaccinated by the end of May and we can open up fully,” Unger said of the city pool. “It will just depend.”
If the governor lifts all restrictions on capacity limits by May 24, Plan 1 will be instituted for the Aquatic Center. Plan 1 calls for opening the facility at 100 percent max capacity, which is 572 people in the pool at any given time.
All programs such as adult lap swim, red cross swim lessons, tiny tot swim lessons, parent tot hour, swim team, family night swim, aerobic classes and open swim would be held on normal days and hours as in years past. Except for last year, when the pool changed its operations because of COVID-19.
Plan 1 calls for paying a fee or by membership for using the pool. No reservations would be necessary. According to Plan 2, reservations would be required.
Just like last year, Plan 2 allows for 50 percent pool capacity, which would be 286 people at any given time. The pool would operate with COVID-19 restrictions with reservations required for all patrons.
However, this year, family memberships and individual memberships will be sold to all who register for them. Red Cross Swim lessons and Tiny Tot lessons will also be offered according to Plan 2. This plan will be implemented if the governor’s office continues with capacity restrictions.
For area residents interested in buying a pool pass, they can purchase one at Kasson City Hall. Once the pool opens on June 5, they can get them there.
The cost for a family membership for a Kasson resident is $185 for 1-4 family members. Non-residents will pay $220 for 1-4 family members. Each additional family member costs $40.
