Breaking News: Steele County cancels fair
The Steele County Free Fair has joined a growing number of fairs in canceling its 2020 fair.
On Wednesday night, the Steele County Fair Board voted to cancel this year’s fair because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“After much planning and deliberation, it is with much sadness and disappointment that we announce the cancellation of our 2020 SCFF,” said Scott Kozelka, the fair’s manager. “Unfortunately, we’ve not been able to identify a plan that would allow us to move forward with our fair while also following the guidance and recommendations that have been put into place to keep our communities safe.”
The announcement comes after last Friday’s decision by the Minnesota State Fair to cancel this year’s “great Minnesota get together.”
Dodge and Olmsted counties also canceled their fairs this week.
