Bears boys soccer advances to section semi-finals

On a cold windy and snowy Saturday morning, Adam Krakora provided most of the heat as he scored twice and provided an assist as Byron beat Dover-Eyota 4-0 to advance to the semifinals Tuesday in Austin. 
Byron Head Coach Dave Bahr said the scoring got started when Krakora hustled at the D-E goalkeeper Anthony Swenson who rushed a clearing kick right into Krakora that bounced off him into the net. 
“An almost impossible play,” he said.
Five minutes later, Krakora drove deep into the box and then laid a perfect ball back for Andy Lambrecht who drilled it into the lower left corner for the second goal. 
Krakora then added another goal five minutes into the second half when Sajon Page passed a ball across the face of the D-E goal and he buried it with a misdirection hit.
Bradley Pavon added the final goal with four minutes remaining in the game with a 25-yard blast from the far right side that found the left side of the goal.
For the game, Bahr said Byron outshot D-E 11-1 and goalkeeper Caleb Koza picked up his ninth shutout of the season. 
He said the driving wind kept the ball on the east end of the field most of the game, but Byron’s ball control offense enabled them to score twice while going against the wind. 
“That was critical as the second half they were mostly able to keep the ball on the D-E end,” he said.
Bahr also lauded the play of freshman Ryan Boyken who was making his first start and seeing extended time at left wing.
 “He was excellent in guarding a very crafty D-E player Landon DeMuth,” he said. “The midfield play of Cam Schmit and Zach Ellavsky continues to be steady and dominant.”
Dover-Eyota has only one senior and looks to be a very formidable team for the next few years.
