Angie Richards continues to serve on KM School Board

Nine years ago Angie Richards, and her husband decided on Mantorville to be their forever home.
Ever since then the mother of two has been dedicated to the community.
One of the main reasons for picking the area to raise their kids was because of the quality of education their kids would receive at KM.
“ I vividly recall standing in line (this was before online registration) to sign our daughter up for preschool; yet, we didn’t even own a home in the community yet,” Richards explained.
One of the ways that she has served the community was by running and being elected to the school board.
She explained that her passion for education is the main reason why she decided to run.
“Serving as a School Board Director is an intersection of my passion for education and love for this community. I chose to become engaged for many reasons; one of those being that schools are being called upon to educate
and care for the whole child,” Richards said.
She went onto say that KM provides this for it’s students. “Kasson-Mantorville recognizes this and provides a learning space that is also
a place to build and develop peer and adult relationships,” she added.
When asked what her biggest accomplishments have been so far on the board she explained that the district has achieved many things, but one of the biggest things was the passing of the levy, to help improve the education
of it’s students.
“While there are notable accomplishments during my time in this community, certainly passing the referendum to
provide updated physical spaces, enhancing career technical education and adding a performing arts center is one of those accomplishments,” she said.
As a member of the school board she explained that
a lot of the dedication that takes place by members
is done behind the scenes, but for her one of the best moments every year is when they get to hand out diplomas.
“The School Board puts in numerous hours behind the scenes to ensure our district has what is needs to be successful. Most often
these hours and activities are completed without any pomp and circumstance, yet, one of my beloved events of the year is presenting diplomas to graduating seniors,” she said.
Overall Richards is excited to serve the community
for another four years as a member of the KM School Board after winning her re election bid last week.
“I have been honored to serve as a School Board Director for the last four years and am humbled
to earn the community’s support to continue serving the district and students for the next four years. Go KoMets!”
