84 year old male injured in vehicle vs train accident
On Oct.31 around 1:30 p.m. a 2007 Chevy Uplander was struck by a train on 2nd Street NW near 10th Ave NW in Dodge Center, according to the Dodge County Sheriff's Office.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Lyle Lyke, 84 of rural Claremont.
According to the Sheriff’s Office at this time it appears that the vehicle failed to yield to the moving train at the intersection. This intersection is controlled by a stop sign.
According to a Press Release from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office they discovered the vehicle had failed to yield to the train and was struck towards the rear of the vehicle causing it to roll.
Mayo 1 did respond to the scene but the driver of the vehicle was transported to Saint Mary’s in Rochester by a DC Ambulance instead for his serious injuries.
His current condition is unknown.
The crash is still under investigation.
