Secret caramel apple recipe helps raise money for cancer

In 2005 a group of Dodge County employees formed its own Dodge County Relay For Life Team.
Since then they have been nothing but successful raising well over $100,000 since the team was formed.
The team, which consists of current and former employees from the Dodge County government, has worked tiredly with different fundraisers and innovative ways to raise money for the worthy cause.
Some of the highlights of its fundraising efforts include the “Think Pink” event, which was held a couple of weekends ago.
During this year’s fundraiser, the team raised over $4,500.
Another one of its successful fundraisers comes from selling some famous caramel apples.
After about a month of Rose Culbertson preparing her famous secret recipe caramel, last week members of the team and from other teams, along with family members,  spent an evening making the caramel apples to help raise even more money for the 2019 Relay For Life.
The team decided seven years ago to start selling caramel apples after brainstorming different innovative ways to fundraise.
After starting off with a little over 100 apples the first year, they now prepare and make well over four hundred caramel apples to sell.
At first the group mainly sold the apples at the government building where they work, but since then they have ventured into selling their apples to other city halls and to different community members and businesses.
One of the ways that they are able to be successful with the fundraiser is by having the apples generously donated by Setcaap Orchards, which is located in Rochester.
Team members say that one of their favorite parts of being on the team is being able to have fun with their friends while also raising money for the very important cause.
While the team was only formed about 13 years ago, the group collectively has over 100 years of experience on different relay teams.
