BREAKING NEWS: BOY DROWNS IN DODGE COUNTY POND

A 7-year-old boy drowned in a pond in rural Dodge County Tuesday night.
Sheriff Scott Rose said the name of the boy is being withheld pending notification of family.
Emergency crews responded to Naylor’s Pond on 160thAvenue north of Highway 14 around 4:18 p.m. Tuesday. The sheriff’s office received a report of a missing boy who had been swimming with friends and had been missing for about 10 minutes.
Divers located the boy’s body at about 7:37 p.m. in a deeper part of the pond where he was last seen by friends, according to Rose.
The Olmsted County Medical Examiner’s Office will be doing an autopsy tomorrow to confirm accidental drowning as the cause of death, Rose said.
Dodge County received assisted from Dodge Center Fire, Claremont Fire, West Concord Fire and Dodge Center Ambulance. The search team expanded to include assistance from Owatonna Police with a drone, State Patrol’s helicopter, Mayo One, DNR and Olmsted County Sheriff’s Dive Team.
