Triton students recognized at Business Professionals conference

Triton Business Professionals of America sent 27 students to the annual State Leadership Conference, held March 8-10 in Minneapolis. 
Three students won trips to the National BPA Conference, and 14 members earned recognition for placing in the top 10 of their events.
Those heading to the national event include McKenna Jennings, who placed second in Digital Media Production, Leah Pflaum, who placed fifth in Database Fundamentals, and Olivia Zill, who placed third in Integrated Office Applications.  
Fourteen members received special recognition and awards for placing in the top 10 in their event.
About 1,800 Minnesota BPA student members participate in the organization’s competitive events program, allowing them to compete individually or in teams in nearly 60 events focused on finance, business administration, information systems, digital communication and design, and management, marketing and communication. The competitions are designed to prepare students to succeed and assess “real-world” business skills and problem-solving abilities. 
The 27 Triton members who qualified at regional competition earlier this year put their talents to the test against the winners from eight other regions during the State Leadership Conference, in which the top five individuals, top three judged individuals, and top two teams from each event earned trips to the National BPA Conference.
Jennings, Pflaum, and Zill will travel in May to Dallas to compete with 5,500 top students from across the U.S. at the 52nd-annual National Leadership Conference – the pinnacle of BPA competition.
Business Professionals of America is a career and technical student organization for high school students pursuing careers in business management, office administration, information technology and other related career fields. Its mission is to contribute to the preparation of a world-class workforce through the advancement of leadership, citizenship, academic and technological skills. 
The Minnesota Secondary Association is part of a larger organization comprised of over 34,000 members from 23 states and Puerto Rico.
