Tips for coping, post-Holiday style

We've reached that time of the year when it's no longer socially acceptable to have Christmas or holiday decorations around the house.
A few families may persevere, but most families will be taking down the Christmas tree this weekenf if they haven't already.
If your family is anything like mine, nobody wants to take down the decorations. It signals the end of the holiday season and it can be a hassle.
Adults don’t want to brave the frigid weather by climbing on ladders to take down the Christmas lights, while kids rarely want to help out around the house.
Here are a few ways that my family has gotten the whole family involved in the process of taking down the holiday decorations.
You can get football fans to help out by having the Vikings game on in the background, or if you’re not a Vikings fan, watch one of the other games. There should be a great slate of quarterfinal games this weekend.
For families not interested in football, play a movie that the whole family enjoys.
If you want to prolong the holiday season, play your favorite holiday music and make hot chocolate to keep the family motivated. Or create your own family tradition that helps everyone enjoy the experience.
What I’m trying to say is that just because it’s mid-January and the holiday season is ending doesn’t mean you need to dread the process of taking down the Christmas or holiday decorations. If you make the ‘chore’ enjoyable, doing it as a family can be a fun way to cap off the holiday season.
After all, spending time with your family is what makes the holidays so enjoyable in the first place.
