KoMets earn wins, milestones at Green Devil Duals
Throughout the first half of the season, the Kasson-Mantorville wrestling team has been focused on continuing its dominance from last year. As the defending Minnesota Class AA State Champions, the KoMets have made a name for themselves within the state, but their performance is also beginning to put themselves on the map nationally.
Coming into this week, the KoMets were ranked 27th in the Intermat Fab 50 High School Rankings and have racked up a couple of impressive performances outside of Minnesota with a third-place finish at the Cheesehead Invite on January 6-7 and a clean sweep at the Green Devil Duals in Osage, Iowa on January 14.
At the Green Devil Duals, the KoMets were met with little resistance as they faced some of the top teams in Iowa. K-M opened the dual with a 70-6 victory over Dike-New Hartford before earning a 77-0 shutout over Humboldt in their second dual.
The KoMets would dominate host school Osage with a 75-3 victory in their third dual before claiming victory with another 77-0 win over Independence to take home the championship.
While K-M’s victory was sweet enough, several KoMets reached career milestones with wins in Osage. Senior Keaten Schorr notched his 150th career victory while Robby Horsman earned his 75th career win. Jim and Brett Paulson also hit big milestones as they each won their 50th career match.
With the wins, the KoMets now have an 8-0 record in duals with three victories
