Reese Elizabeth Berg is Dodge County’s First Baby of the Year

Farran and Phillip Berg, of Dodge Center, officially welcomed their first child Reese Elizabeth Berg into the world on Jan. 6, 2016 at 4:58 p.m. thus making her Dodge County’s First Baby of the Year. The contest states that the baby must be born on or after Jan. 1, 2016 and the parents must reside within the boundaries of Dodge County. As the winner, the Berg’s will receive a gift basket from the Dodge County Independent and other local businesses. Reese was born at the Mayo Clinic Hospital Methodist Campus in Rochester and will be spoiled not only from her parents, but her grandparents: Alex and Nanci Nolan of Dodge Center, Andy and Tammy Christian of Lake City, Iowa and Patrick and Robin Berg of Owatonna. At birth she weighed 7 lbs and 1 oz and was 20 ¼ inches long. Farran, 27, and Phillip, 26 are both Triton High School graduates and got married in September 2012. “We’ve always wanted to start a family, but both of us wanted to be more established in our careers and have a house,” Farran said. Well the two did just that. Farran works as a RN at the Mayo Clinic and Phillip works at the Mayo Clinic Saint Mary’s Campus with Weis Builders as a laborer. The Bergs bought their first house in Dodge Center in 2013.
