Triton football begins season 4-0

Last year Triton’s football team didn’t win many games during the regular season.
But with a 3-5 record, the team was able to find its stride at the end, making a deep playoff run.
This year is different, however, beginning its regular season with a 4-0 record.
Asked about the difference between this year’s team, and last Head Coach Brandon Neseth said “I would say the group we had last year wanted to play a physical, smash-mouth style of football on both sides of the ball.”
“ With a different group of athletes that we have this fall we are trying to spread the field more and get our athletes in space,” Neseth said. “Both groups were special in their own way and we only have a handful of guys, Pierce Petersohn, Brody Munnikuysen, Craig Knutson, Isaiah Selthun, and Hunter Garness that played extensively last fall, so it’s cool to see the team this year forming their own identity. We are excited to see the growth they’ve already made continue into the more difficult part of our schedule.”
Win over La Crescent
In its game last Friday, against La Crescent, Triton was dominant from the beginning in its 34-13 win scoring two touchdowns in the first quarter.
Petersohn finished the game with 134 passing yards and a passing touchdown while also scoring twice with his legs. Munnikuysen also had a rushing touchdown in the game and ran for 165 yards.
“Our boys really came out and played at a high level. Special teams really had a nice game, even blocking a PAT for a TD,” Neseth said following the game. “ Our line picked up where they had left off last week and allowed Brody Munnikhuysen to have another big night. Still some things to clean up getting into the meat of our schedule, such as penalties and execution. But, overall the boys played a physical game tonight.”
