Byron boys soccer shuts out Lake City

The Byron boys soccer team beat Lake City on the road in a HVL matchup last Tuesday, in a 5-0 victory.
“The team placed scoring from corner kicks as a priority area to improve this week and responded with three scores from corner kicks,” Head Coach Dave Bahr said after the game.
Two of those goals came in the first half from Josh Gibson and Ryan Hartman.
In the second half, Caden Anderson, Ben Zimmerman and Gibson were able to put the ball through the net.
 
On Thursday, the Bears traveled to Rochester to take on the Lourdes.
“Both teams played with great intensity in a very back and forth game but Lourdes prevailed at the end winning 3-2,” Bahr said.
The Lourdes scored within the first five minutes in the game, which would end up being the only goal in the first half.
Byron would score early in the second half with Lucas McLean getting his first varsity goal to tie up the game. Two minutes later Brady Boyken scored to take the lead for the Bears.
However, the Lourdes went on to score two unanswered goals to win.
Byron goalkeeper Jackson Ihrke had five saves while Lourdes goalkeeper Will Jacob, had one save.
