Donald Louis Subbert, 93, Dodge Center

Donald Louis Subbert, 93, of Dodge Center, MN, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center.
He was born in Carroll, Iowa to Louis August Subbert and Alice Louise Subbert (Schumacher) on January 8, 1931. He grew up helping his parents on the farm. On August 11, 1954, he married Rose Ella Haight in Aurelia, Iowa. They moved in 1955, with Donald’s parents up to Dodge Center where he continued to help his parents with the farming.
Donald belonged to the MN Crop Improvement Association to raise registered and certified seed for many years and sold the seed to local farmers. He enjoyed farming, vegetable and flower gardening, and mowing the lawn. He took pride in entering his vegetables and showing some of his best produce at the Dodge County Fair.
He became a member of the United Methodist Church in Dodge Center in 1955. He also was a member of the Dodge County Farmers Union. Donald and Rose Ella were able to renew their vows and celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on August 11, 2024, with their family.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Louis A. Subbert and Alice L. Subbert. He is survived by his wife, Rose Ella Subbert; daughters, Debra (Larry) Meeker of Mantorville and Diane (Doug) Kern of Houlton, WI; four grandchildren, Michael (Jessica) Meeker, Grant Kern (Emily Johnston), Steven Meeker (Tea Wytaske), Taylor Kern (Olivia Anchondo); three great-grandchildren, Paisley Styer, Marlee Meeker, and Brecken Meeker.
A private family service will be held. Burial will take place at the Evergreen Cemetery in Mantorville.
In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to the United Methodist Church in Dodge Center, the American Cancer Society, or a charity of their choice.
