Community invited to give ‘Fresh Coat for the Blue’

Kasson’s Police Office will be getting a “Fresh Coat for the Blue” next week.
Adam Schlaeger got the idea of asking the community to help giving a new coat of paint to the Police Department’s building. He, and Tanya Young, are asking community members to help by volunteering to paint or bringing or donating supplies like paint brushes/rollers and paint trays. Financial donations are also being accepted, she said.
The event is scheduled for July 26 at 9 a.m. and July 27 at 8 a.m. with volunteers asked to meet at the Kasson Police Station. Also, on July 27 there will be a free fun run/walk at 7 p.m. starting at the Police Station, going through the roundabouts and ending back at the station.
Young explained that when Schlaeger drove by the Police Station and saw the new Fire Hall, he felt that the Police Station also needed a little love and thought “let’s give it a refresh.” After talking about it, it was decided to make it a community project, Young said.
Young said the prep work and painting will begin on Friday, July 26, and finish up on Saturday, July 27.
The Kasson Public Works Department will be bringing a lift to help with the painting higher up on the building. Sherwin Williams in Rochester is donating the paint, Young said, and since one side of the building is siding, ABC Siding will be donating siding. Culligan has donated a new water cooler and will also be providing water for the volunteers while Prairie Meadows will provide snacks for the volunteers. The Dodge County Salvation Army will be there both days serving food and drinks.
