Lower Lights Quartet To BeAt Mantorville
Rev. A.J. Collins, minister of First Congregational Church of Mantorville has announced that the ‘Lower Lights Quartet’ of Forest Lake, Minnesota will appear at the church on Friday, May 3, at 8:00 p.m.
Each year the Lower Lights Quartet travels extensively throughout the country singing Gospel music and testifying of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Lead singer, pianist, and manager Dennis Davenport, says that the quartet travels approximately 100,000 miles yearly singing concerts at churches, school assemblies, and evangelistic campaigns.
Using a combination of bass guitar, lead guitar, piano, and singing, the Lower Lights have a unique gospel sound that appeals to both the young and older listener.
Everyone is welcome.

MSI racing back in action
The fastest sport in town is back on the track at the Dodge County Speedway in Kasson. MSI racing returned May 1 with another season of stock car racing in three divisions.
The Modified cars, with drivers like veteran LeRoy Scharkey, front-running Jay Ihrke, Mike Sorenson and Tim Donlinger should again provide the most speed and competition among some of the best drivers in the country.
This year, the Bomber Division will be called street stock. All cars will be required to have mufflers.
MSI promoter Clayt Dornack has made a few other changes in an effort to provide better racing action. Also be on the lookout for a new WISSOTA racing newspaper.

Author Marette Jorgenson visits Dodge Center Public Library
The Dodge Center Public Library will be hosting a local author/speaker on Thursday, May 13 at 7pm. Marette (Campbell) Jorgenson, of the Dodge County area, will be speaking about the process of writing one’s memories and family history. She has written 3 books of inspirational devotionals and poetry/stories concerning family and small town life.
Her books can be found at the Dodge Center Library if you would like to check them out. They are also sold at Kasson Variety. They will also be for sale at this Library event. The titles are: “Cold Pop, Frozen Rolls, and Honey”; “But I’m Not Done with my Sins!”; and “There’s a Grasshopper in my Shoe.”

Relay For Lifea team eventto fight cancer
The 2014 American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life will be held August 1st at the Dodge County Fairgrounds. The Relay committee is currently looking for new teams or team members to participate. A great night filled with tears, laughter, good food and support of old friends as well as new friends is guaranteed. This is not a running event. It is simply aa night when over 500 people get together and walk around a track lit with luminaires in memory or in honor of someone with cancer. Many people camp out the whole night. There is a silent auction, music, Locks of Love haircuts, and tons of great food.
