I Was Thinking... Finally!

It is about time. It has probably frustrated people for ages and now, finally, someone has come up with a solution for this pressing problem. But it is amazing it has taken so long. But finally, Charmin has produced a toilet paper that tears evenly across the sheet.
For years, despite the perforations, most toilet paper rarely tore off evenly and left an unsightly portion hanging on the roll. Charmin’s Ultra now guarantees a clean tear with every use. I’m sure this innovation will transform the whole toilet paper industry. I am glad to see U.S. industries are using their research dollars to solve such critical issues.
With a little research, I’ve found some other innovations that also address serious needs in our fast-moving society. Living in a digital world requires us to make the most of our time. With our busy schedules we often need to multi-task. Therefore, the shower radio allows us to keep up on the news while we are completing our morning ritual.
This waterproof marvel is just one advancement. Since so many treat their cell phones as nearly an extension of themselves, it is necessary to keep it close. So again, scientists answered the call and created a shower curtain with pockets where you can keep your phone close. I’m glad to see researchers are answering the burning needs of our modern times.
Another innovator created a product for those of us that can’t remember anything unless we write it down. Don’t you hate it when you are showering, and you remember that you have something to do today, but you don’t have anything to write on. Luckily someone created a whiteboard you can attach to the shower wall and the waterproof ink allows you to jot down your note. This will be especially useful for me when I get a great idea for a new column while I’m showering.
For those of you that are bored with your everyday shower, another manufacturer has created a shower head equipped with multi-colored LED lights to jazz up your morning routine. Even if you are so pressed for time that you can’t take a morning shower, a company has developed a dry shampoo powder that you can use on your way to work.
Where there is a need clamoring to be solved, there always seems to be somebody ready to find a solution. We know how painful it is when the shrill sound of our alarm clock jolts us out of a restful sleep. We instantly wake up crabby and start off on a negative note. So how much better would be an alarm that woke you with increasing levels of light. It gently increases the amount of light until you wake from your slumber.
It’s like having your own personal sun shining you awake. Definitely a need that has for generations been ignored until now.
Some inventors have created other conveniences for people on the go. Several months ago, I wrote about Skechers new “slip on shoes” to help you avoid the tedious task of tying your shoes. If you can’t afford a new pair of Skechers, another innovator has created “lock laces” that allows you to keep your shoes tied so any pair can become slip-ons.
And it isn’t just clothing advances. For those that don’t want to tackle the difficult job of making a toasted cheese sandwich, a visionary has come up with a “toaster bag.” You just put the bread and cheese into the bag and let the machine do the arduous task of toasting it. Still another necessity for every home is the 3 in 1 avocado slicer.
New products have also come about to make our leisure time more efficient. One developer realized how tiresome it is to use our hands to keep a book open while reading. He created an invention that keeps the book open so you can free your hand for other things like eating snacks or drinking your favorite beverage.
But maybe the most thought-out device is the nail polish ring. You put it on your hand and place the bottle of nail polish in the ring holder so you can put on new nail polish in bed without fear of spilling. Another critical problem solved. Thank goodness for American ingenuity.
