Mantorville Coloring Contest features local artist

This fall’s coloring contest in Mantorville is featuring a local artist. Each year, the Mantorville Chamber of Commerce sponsors a coloring contest as part of the Fall Festival in Mantorville. Karen Kay Arnold from Dodge Center has drawn four different fall pictures to be used in the contest. Three of the drawings are for youth ages 12 and under. One drawing is for adults.
Karen loves to color and has been coloring pictures for most of her life.
About seven years ago she grew tired of the drawings that were available for adults to color. That is when she started creating her own drawings. She has a Facebook page: It’s All Connected. You can see many of her colored drawings on the page.
Her favorite objects to draw are flowers. Most of Karen’s drawings are at the adult level, but she did create drawings at the children’s level for the Fall Festival contest.
Karen says that the most important things in her life are her children and her husband. In her spare time, she makes drawings to color, she also likes to crochet. Karen works part-time at the Hubbell House. She loves her job and has been working there since 2017. Karen is fascinated by history and appreciates being able to work in a historic building.
When she publishes her drawings, Karen uses the pen name Karen Kay. Her drawings for the coloring contest are now available at three locations in Mantorville. You can pick one up at the County Seat Coffee House, Mantorville Square (next to the Chocolate Shoppe) and at the Mantorville Art Guild. After the drawings are colored, they should be brought to Mantorville Square. All entries must be submitted by Friday, October 27.
