Byron, K-M boys soccer end regular seasons

Byron boys wrapped up the regular season on Monday and Tuesday night, October 2 and 3, with a win and a tie. Both road games, Monday the boys traveled to South St. Paul to take on the Packers. Liam Schick led the way with two goals, while Aydan Tye chipped in another and added an assist. Talon Henderson finished the scoring with a blast from 20 yards into the upper corner to make it 4-0. GK Jackson Ihrke kept a clean sheet in goal, stopping 5 shots.
Tuesday marked the last regular season game and a trip to Pine Island to take on conference-leading Pine Island/Zumbrota-Mazeppa.
Despite playing in their 7th game in 11 days, Byron played with great determination and spirit. This was a great high school soccer game with neither team giving any quarter. PIZM got on the board first, on a header off a corner by Kurt Rude, just 7 minutes into the game. Byron battled back with a deflection goal on a shot sent in by Jaxon Boynton with 9 minutes left in the game.
Shots on goal were hard to muster as both defenses were solid and unrelenting. The Byron back line of Ethan Hearns, Braeden Miner, and Braydon Olson, along with defending midfielders Aydan Tye and Ben Zimmerman, were tough to move against. The game ended in a 1-1 tie, which was fitting for the great effort put forth by both teams.
Byron ends the season with a 9-6-1 record and they look forward to the Sectional Tournament, starting Tuesday.
