News Update: Steele Public Health seeks community's help

“We need your help!”
That’s the passionate plea from Steele County Public Health as it announces a campaign to collect homemade masks in light of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Owatonna Fire Department is excited to join the proclamation set forth by Gov. Tim Walz. Public Health is asking for the Steele County Community's help!
Walz announced that the week of April 18-25th is Homemade Mask Week in Minnesota!! #stayhomemademn
Public Health encourages our wonderful community to band together and create homemade masks so it can protect those working in healthcare facilities, nursing homes, and congregate living facilities.
Please drop off all your homemade masks at the SW Corner of Central Park across from the Fire Department on Saturday, April 25th from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Public Health encourages people to look towards the CDC and Minnesota Department of Health for patterns! There are a lot of options if you are unable to find elastic, feel free to google ideas but you can use hair ties, fabric ties, tights fabric, fitted sheets elastic, or regular elastic. We know that there have been so many people making fabric masks and supplies may be becoming limited, but we encourage you to find options that will work and help keep our COMMUNITY SAFE!!!
