New Venue for Care and Share
For the first time ever, the annual Care and Share Auction will take place in the K-M Performing Arts Center.
The annual event is the biggest fundraiser for the non-profit organization, which helps many families every year during their times of need.
The K-M Area Care and Share is a non- profit organization whose purpose is to support families and individuals in need within the Kasson-Mantorville area. Care and Share also provides grant dollars to local applicants based on their needs.
Care and Share also supports local families with food, gifts and cash donations during the Christmas Season, as well as helping disadvantaged students with school supplies throughout the year.
Some of the things that the organization helps with includes raising money for SEMCAC, helping students with school supplies, helping with the Christmas Tree program and overall helps people during their times of needs even if their time is just temporarily.
Typically each year the organization helps about 50-70 families and 135-150 children.
During the annual fundraiser, about $25,000 is usually raised which goes to show the generosity of the community.
“It’s amazing to see how much the community gives,” said Jenny Carrier, one of the event’s co-chairs.
While they have had the fundraiser in many different locations over the years, they decided to move it to the school as a way to accommodate more people and to hopefully have the biggest fundraiser in their history.
The annual silent auction and dinner that takes place as part of the event will also be located in the high school in the commons area.
For those are interested in donating items for the silent or live auction can do so by dropping them off on Monday, Nov.12 at the high school north entrance between 7a.m.-7p.m.
